Algeria updates

November 2021

The Autorité de Régulation de la Poste et des Communications Électroniques (ARPCE) in Algeria has updated the Type Approval Procedure for Terminal Equipment and Radio Installations intended to be Connected to an Electronic Communications Network Open to the Public. Important changes include:

Activity codes for manufacturing and importing these devices are still required, however the wording has been adjusted to allow for ongoing changes in activity codification.
ARPCE requires importers of approved devices to communicate the serial numbers and IMEI of the devices within one month of putting the devices on the national market.

March 2020

While the regulatory agency in Algeria, ANF (Agence Nationale des Frequences), is now accepting applications for SRD (Short Range Devices), it is important to note that products that use GPS services  still require a license obtained by the client’s dealer or local rep in the country. This must be obtained prior to applying for type approval.

November 2019
The Regulatory Authority of the Post and Electronic Communications of Algeria has published the following new requirements for the type approval of radio and terminal equipment, in effect as of October 18, 2019:

  • The renewal process has been terminated. Now, a new application is required upon certificate expiration.
  • To be approved, certificates from accredited labs are required.
  • Test reports can be no older than three years.
  • Safety and human exposure testing is now required.
  • DoC copies can be substituted with electronically signed versions.
  • Issued certificates are valid for three years.
  • Lead-times for application review and evaluation cannot exceed eight weeks.
