Thailand Regulatory Approval
Type Approval in Thailand
Thailand does not have any special approval process for importing for field test or trials samples before your obtain your type approval certificate from Thailand.
Your importer should be familiar with obtaining an import-to-export approval or permit that allows field samples to be imported.
Telecommunication equipment subject to Supplier ‘s Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) scheme is the equipment for which the NTC had prescribed technical standard or technical requirement, but the NTC does not require such equipment to be registered or certified. In this case, supplier has an obligation to provide written attestation that the equipment conforms to such standard or requirement using Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) form.
In order to obtain type approval in Thailand CSIA works with the local regulatory agency, MITC Ministry of Information and Communication Technology.

The MITC has its own specific approval process.

We are able to leverage your CE Mark test reports as part of the approval process.

Once we collect all of the required documents, complete the required application forms and submit to MITC, it typically takes 4-5 weeks for a type approval to be processed and issued.

A local representative is also required as Thailand will not accept an application from a foreign entity. CSIA has local agents that fulfil this role for the manufacturer.

Most products the use wireless technology will require MITC type approval including WIFI, Bluetooth, cellular or satellite products.

The MITC approval is valid indefinitely.

The Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) in Thailand has recently issued an announcement regarding labeling requirements for personal computers and computer equipment. This significant update, which came into effect on November 1, 2023, outlines specific guidelines for labeling these products within the Thai market.
Draft Notification on Radio Communications Equipment Used Frequency 5.925-6.425 GHz
This addendum is to inform that the Office of The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has proposed to withdraw Notification of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission on Technical Standard for Telecommunication Equipment: Radio communications equipment used frequency 5.925-6.425 GHz (NBTC TS 1039-2566 (2023)) and replace it with this draft Notification (NBTC TS 1039-256X (202X)).
This revised standard specifies the minimum technical characteristics required for radio communications equipment operating in the 5.925-6.425 GHz bands.
This draft Notification of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission will come into force on the day following the date of its publication in the Government Gazette.

TIS2779-2562 – Safety Requirements for Double Capped LED-Lamps and for Fluorescent Lampholders and
Starterholders
TIS2780-2562 – Safety Requirements for Self-Ballasted LED-Lamps for General Lighting Services by Voltage
Higher than 50 V.

November 2019
The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission of Thailand (NBTC) opened the LTE Band 28 and introduced new technical standards to NBTC TS 1027-2560.
This new technical standard states that all LTE equipment manufactured and distributed in Thailand must comply with NBTC TS 1027-2560, the standard for International Mobile Telecommunications using Technology Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access. Frequency bands that require test reports for NBTC approval are as follows:
GSM: 900 and 1800
WCDMA: bands 1, 3, 5, and 8
LTE: bands 1, 3, 5, 8, 40, LAA/eLAA 46, and 28All WWAN products using this band and applying for approval will need accompanying RF and SAR/EMF test reports.
