Type Approval in Nigeria
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) approval refers to the regulatory authorization granted by the NCC, which is the body responsible for overseeing and regulating the telecommunications industry in Nigeria. This approval is required for various activities related to communications and telecom operations in Nigeria.

All communications equipment that has been type approved must be labeled with a label approved by the Commission. An example of an acceptable label is shown below.
Frequencies allowed in Nigeria
2.4 GHz frequency band is allowed for use in Nigeria and is regulated by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

January 2024
Regulator the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has published what it calls a pre-enforcement notice regarding unauthorised use of the 5.4GHz frequency band.
The notice informs operators, private/public organizations and the public that the 5.4GHz frequency band spanning 5.430 - 5.725GHz range is a licensed frequency in Nigeria. Therefore, it continues, the transmission of signals or use of equipment in any form on this band without a frequency license obtained from the Commission is illegal.

The NCC updated their type approval document which contains important information about the requirements for a type approval application as well as submission and monitoring activities. In addition it describes the sample requirements for certain types of equipment, and confirms the RED 2014/53/EU as the acceptable Directive to which equipment must conform, replacing the old R&TTE Directive 1999/5/EC.
