Belize Regulatory Approval

Type Approval in Belize

In Belize, the PUC (Public Utilities Commission) certification refers to the regulatory approval or certification granted by the Public Utilities Commission of Belize for entities providing public utility services. The PUC is responsible for overseeing and regulating various utility sectors in Belize, including electricity, water, telecommunications, and transportation services.

A PUC certification ensures that businesses operating in these sectors are compliant with the regulatory standards and requirements set by the Commission. This includes safety, environmental, and financial criteria, as well as ensuring that the service providers meet the necessary legal and technical standards to deliver reliable services to the public. All telecommunications equipment require type approval from the PUC except for Regular Telephone, Facsimile Machine, Cordless telephone -limited range types only, and cellular phones

Type approval from country of origin is recognized by the PUC but must be filed with the PUC for approval. As per our SI 152 “Any party seeking recognition of type approval granted by another country shall produce to the PUC satisfactory documentary evidence that the relevant equipment qualifies for the recognition or exemption sought.”

  • PUC type approval in Belize requires acceptable FCC reports.

  • Lead time is approximately 3-4 weeks from the time all documents have been collected.

  • Certificate is valid indefinitely.

Belize PUC label requirements

While the PUC has no specific label requirements, it is recommended that you follow the FCC label guidelines.
