Type Approval in Yemen

  • ​MTIT type approval in Yemen requires acceptable CE reports.

  • 1 sample setup for conducted testing required for in country testing, including all cables, adapters, software, etc. to put the equipment into test modes.

  • Local representative required. If the manufacture does not have one, CSIA can provide this service.

  • Lead time is approximately 3-5 weeks from the time all documents and samples have been collected.

  • MTIT certificate is valid for 2 years.

Importation of telecom equipment

 Businesses or individuals looking to import telecommunication and IT-related equipment, such as mobile phones, satellite devices, routers, or software, may need to receive approval from the Ministry to ensure compliance with national standards and regulations.

Licensing

Providers of internet, mobile, or other tech-related services must have the appropriate licenses issued by the MTIT to legally operate within Yemen.

Regulatory Updates For Yemen

February 2022

The Ministry of Telecom and Information Technology (MTIT) in Yemen finally completed the implementation of the new type approval system for Yemen after suspension of issuance of type approvals for the last months.
The new implemented type approval system provides a great advantage for the manufacturers and their distributers in Yemen as the new issued approvals will be valid for two years instead of one year.
This change in the validity will be applicable for already submitted applications and surely for all upcoming applications.
Within this change in the validity of type approvals, the authority increased the fees for new issued approvals by 200%.
The implementation of the new approval system in Yemen shall guarantee a quick handling of the applications in the future.
