Regulatory Approval

Type Approval in Gabon

ARCEP (Autorité de Régulation des Communications Électroniques et des Postes) is the regulatory authority in Gabon responsible for overseeing the country's electronic communications and postal services. The ARCEP approval in Gabon refers to the authorization or approval granted by this regulatory body for certain activities or services related to telecommunications, postal services, and digital services within the country.

 

  • ​Type approval in Gabon requires acceptable CE reports.

  • Local representative required. If the client does not have one, CSIA can provide this service.

  • Lead time is approximately 6-7 weeks from the time all documents and samples have been collected. 

  • Certificate is valid for 2 years.

ARCEP label requirements:

According to Article 11 of the telecommunications regulations in force in Gabon:

​

“An ARCEP Label must be affixed to any terminal equipment for which an approval certificate has been obtained, prior to marketing.

This Label conforms to a model set by the agency and must indicate:

  •  indicate whether the equipment is intended to be connected to a network open to the public or whether it is radio equipment not intended for that use.

  • include the model in question, serial number and batch;

  • bear the number and date of approval”

​The importer or the manufacturer can proceed to stick the label as he wishes, while respecting the requirements mentioned.

Frequencies allowed in Gabon

900 MHz frequency band is allowed in Gabon and is used by mobile operators like Gabon Telecom for 2G GSM services.

Regulatory Updates For Gabon

September 2023

​

Since September 1st 2023 there is a coup d’etat in Gabon. Army has seized power leading to many governments officers put on custody. Also, since that date no certificate from our applications in the country has been yet released. This situation could evolve and affects type approval process as changes are expected and a new government should follow soon.

We are closely following the situation and we will keep you posted as soon as any change occur.
