Type Approval in Democratic Republic of Congo
The ARPTC certification in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) refers to the Autorité de Régulation des Postes et Télécommunications du Congo (Authority for the Regulation of Posts and Telecommunications of Congo). Type approval in the Democratic Republic of Congo requires acceptable CE reports.

Also requires 1 normal sample for in country functional testing. Sample is NOT returned.

CIF Invoice is required (Cost, Insurance, Freight) - this information will be used to asses a 5% tax on the product to be imported.

Local representative required. If the client cannot provide this service, CSIA can provide one for you.

Lead time is approximately 10-12 weeks from the time all documents and sample have been collected.

Radio modules are valid for two years.

Equipment such as printers, computers, tablets, and car audios are valid for three years.

Devices connected to public networks are valid for five years.

Frequencies allowed in Democratic Republic of Congo
2.4 GHz frequency band is allowed in the Democratic Republic of Congo, as it is commonly used for wireless technologies like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth within the country.

May 2023
The Ministere des Postes, Télécommunication et Nouvelle Technologie de l'Information et de la Communication (MPT-NTIC) has issued a decree establishing the creation, organization and operation of a new telecommunications authority called, Autorité de Régulation des Postes, des Télécommunications et des Technologies de l'Information et de la Communication du Congo (ARPTIC).

From now on, the CIF value is added to all equipment subject to approval in the DRC. This is an interministerial decree between the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and NICTs and the Ministry of Finance promoting new taxes and fees in force in the field of telecommunications; in particular that of the CIF value of the equipment. Note that the tax is 5% of the cost price or the CIF value of the equipment) and is added to the cost of the product approval.

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) regulator, Autorité de Régulation de la Poste et des Télécommunications du Congo (A.R.P.T.C.), is revising the type approval validity period.
Already-approved devices are valid until expiration. Currently, certificates are valid for 10 years. Following are the revisions:

Type Approval certificates for any radio module are valid for two years.

Type Approval certificates for equipment—such as printers, computers, tablets, and car audios—are valid for three years.

Type Approval certificates for devices connected to public networks are valid for five years.
October 2019
The Autorite de Regulation de la Poste et des Telecommunications du Congo (ARPTC), which is the regulatory authority in Democratic Republic of Congo, has resumed the processing of type approval applications. This service was put on hold for earlier in the year. The agency does expect some delays while due to the backlog of applications but that should be a temporary situation.
